BECE Ibibio Syllabus 2026/2027 & Textbooks

The BECE Syllabus Ibibio 2026 focuses on developing proficiency in the Ibibio language, covering orthography, grammar (parts of speech, sentence structure), comprehension, composition, and literature (prose, poetry, and drama). It aims to assess listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills to ensure mastery for transition to senior secondary school.

The BECE Ibibio syllabus aims to foster competence in reading, writing, and speaking the language, while promoting cultural awareness. Objectives include enabling effective communication, introducing Ibibio literature (prose, poetry, drama), understanding the language’s sound system and grammar, and nurturing appreciation for Ibibio traditions and custom.

Examination Scheme & Marking Guide

The examination consists of two papers, Paper 1 and Paper 2. Both papers are multiple-choice and last one hour each.

Paper 1:
Paper 1 contains 60 questions drawn from two comprehension passages (5 questions each), grammar (20 questions), composition (5 questions), sound system (10 questions), orthography (5 questions), and translation (10 questions).

Paper 2:
Paper 2 also consists of 60 multiple-choice questions covering oral literature (15 questions), written literature (20 questions), and culture and tradition (20 questions).
